Instead of downloading 12.8 as Peter suggested I reinstalled Mojave but there is no change. I have noticed, however, that if I import a track from a CD iTunes will not play it unless I change the import settings from MP3 to AAC. I will gently continue playing around with settings etc. as I would like to solve the problem. I am not too concern as I have most of my music imported and there is no trouble playing that, only the occasional unimported CD track is not immediately available and I very seldom want to access these.
