Indeed, it's a chicken and egg scenario =) I used to package applications into MSIs; I've often thought about rolling my own msi to take from site to site, as the organizations I work in rarely have unauthenticated access to the internet. However doing it via a batch file works well for me. An MSI would just introduce version problems if watir (or its dependencies) are regularly updated. Would still consider doing this though if it's a common problem to the community ...
