I'm just getting caught up on a week of Travel. We visited Dollywood.
Those of you around Knoxville know that theme park pretty well. One of
the first Music performances I was able to see was these three guys
picking guitars and such. Do you know what the first song they sang
was?? "Salty Dog" I just thought the Darlings had showed up and took
over. I was waiting' for Darlene the chime right in. It was really
special. It made me feel like I was right there in Mayberry.

Then in my hotel, I got to see Gomer Pyle USMC on cable. We don't get
it on our cable at home. This one episode I saw, Gomer was to take this
nice girl on a date, as a bet between Sgt. Carter and Sgt. Hacker (good
ole' Alan Melvin). The girl was very nice and Mayberry-like. I looked
twice because I thought it might be that College kid... but do you know
who it was? Susan Oliver, from "Prisoner of Love" (Lady Prisoner who
Andy almost kissed.) What a different type of character. I guess that's
the actress in the lady.

Someone asked if Howard's girl in "a Date for Goober" was Charlene..and
yes that was Maggie Petersen Mancuso, also playing a different role.

Ken, that's an interesting theory about Mr. Schwamp, but we here at the
Schwamp Fan Club and Hair Loss support group are not quite buying it.

We believe he never married, live alone quietly, was a real (quiet)
party animal, often got a Root Beer buzz, and possibly ran the funeral
home. I mean do you think a father of a young boy would be at Mrs.
Wiley's party? Or standin' in stag lines?

Well it's a nice observation that they are both so quiet, so you could
be right...but we just don't see him as a Daddy on a youngin.
