AS YOU ALL KNOW MAYBERRY IS A FICTICIOUS TOWN. The real comunity of Mayberry is in Va. bout 30 minutes away. This is the town Andy used to describe his childhood growing up in Mt. Airy, NC. sORRY bout the capitals, but the county seat had to be Mayberry cause that is where the court house and Sheriff's Office is located. The only other mention was the state capitol of Raleigh. Remember Andy was the Justice of the Peace, so he was Sheriff and Judge, Magistrate. There was no mention that I know of bout the county Mayberry was in. Everybody knows that Mt. Airy is in Surry county and is the county seat. Just a note. The Old county seat of Surry county was Rockford.
