Yeap! While in the US in 1985 I was wondering that it was still famous.

Probably this is/was a typical US expression as here in Europe I haven't
hear of any such words.

They were called "trash 80s" as a play on the model number - "TRS-80".
I think it started out as professional slang - I recall my dad using the
term in the early 80s when he worked R&D at NCR.  I had a 4K version for
a long time that I played with BASIC and assembler on...and remember the
"wow" factor when I moved up to a 128K CoCo and dual floppy drives.  :)
Sold them to a collector a few years ago, but still have my in-the-box
Timex/Sinclair 1000, with the optional 16K RAMpack.  Wonder if it still
works.
