What I don't like is that it wasn't the first time my son had done that without discussing it with me. I know he means well, but it doesn't sit too well with me. My son has no concept of how much work is involved in making a good website.

2 things worked out from this. The potential client really isn't ready for a website yet, but our discussion was that when he is ready, if he contacts me we'll work out something.

The second good outcome was to tell my son not to do this anymore. If he wants to do something for his friend, it's not a good idea to promise I'll do the work for free, and he should always discuss something like this with me first.

I believe it all worked out well.
