That's right; your free NAV is expiring (or expired). I have run NAV for 3-4 years until this year's renewal. I paid a small renewal fee every year, but somehow for this year, they increased the renewal fee to almost the same as new version fee. So I purchased the new version. After downloaded and installed the new NAV, my computer started to fail completing start-up or booting. With many uninstallations and reinstallations of the new NAV and my ZA, to my very dismal with no effective support from Norton, I finally gave up NAV and got free AVG. Since then, my humble lowly pc has beeen very happy ...

Oh, wise ones!

I have (admittedly the free version of) Norton AV. Each time I have tried
to get the live update (in the past two days) I am first asked if I wish to
buy a year's update from 50 days hence; my reply is in the negative.

Then I am connected to the Norton website, but almost immediately a window
pops up to say my PC has been disconnected from the internet. It has not,
of course. Is this Symantec's latest ruse to force payment? Is there
another reason for this? Am I about to try AVG?
