Rudy,

The tension is that these are being designed into selling pages;   the less
irritation the better (and as you already pointed out pop-ups are not a good
idea).    I suppose I could do them as gifs, but the loading time would be a
turn-off too.

Still, you've given me the answer I feared.   Lesson learnt:  Serif does pdf
and print nicely but is not a good web publisher.

Hmm.   The long sales window idea;  perhaps I am trying to be too 'uniform'
in the site presentation.   Hey ho.   Just when it all looks clear the
clouds cover the sun.
