Power went out just as I wrote that and I forgot to g back and check. An electrical substation just a couple of blocks from the Starbuck's I was at had a "boom". Nice little mushroom cloud of very, very black smoke with an "interesting" smell.
Fortunately, the whole substation didn't catch fire and I was impressed at how quickly they got power back to the neighborhood. Traffic however was snarled for hours with all the traffic lights out. It took 45 minutes to go 4 miles.
