     I have heard this also.  However, when one looks and sees there are
only some 500 bytes on the page, the discerning searcher will simply
ignore it.  Also, it will be indexed only on a very few words, instead of
all the words.

    1. Unavailable to text-only browsers and those who view the web with
images turned off.  (Arguably 10% to 33% of the viewers, but including
ALL search engines!  As in, you have to be indexed to draw viewers!)

    2. Exessive download time, the vast majority of viewers will just
leave!!! 

    3. inability to quote from the page for research papers, etc.

    4. Lack of format independence. Those with different sized windows
or screen resolutions will not see the text well.
