I did extensive research attempting to identify the best solution for our
company.
Cold Fusion was our choice.
TO say it simply:
What HTML is to PERL
Is what CFML is to ASP.
Each activity tends to require micro-coding and multiple pages in ASP as
compared to CFML. CF is easier to learn and maintain and with Cold Fusion
Studio, multiple wizards help you through the coding process. even
JavaScript validation and SQL calls are almost self generating.
As good as Homesite is compared to the competition, that is how good Cold
Fusion compared to its competition.
Speed is about the same although, future incarnations of ASP within the MS
family may change this somewhat. One horror story involving Cold Fusion
concerned memory leaks, and lockups high traffic.
I contact Allaire personally and was assured from multiple sources,
including other third party programmers that this was no longer an issue
and a White paper was soon coming.
I am not expert, but I put on money on Cold FUsion.
