FWIW, we have a site we created by hand (and used to maintain by hand) for
Otter Tail Power Company ( http://www.otpco.com/ ). Otter Tail has taken a
portion of the maintenance in-house, and they're using Front Page.
Initially there were a few weird problems with path names not getting set
correctly in links (everything was an absolute pathname to a file on the
hard disk -- ARGH!), and at one point all of the alt, width, and height
tags vanished from a couple of pages, but overall the product has worked
well for them. More importantly for them, it saves them our fee (boo-hoo!)
and allows Cindy to maintain the web site without her needing to learn
anything more than an interface -- she doesn't *want* to know how to do
HTML, she just wants to put new press releases up on the web site.

The only truly ugly thing that happens is the addition of nbsp tags with
(p) tags around them...they seem to appear at random. I'm assuming Front
Page sticks those in if you hit an extra return, and eventually the Public
Relations Coordinator will stop doing that.

Strangely enough, they haven't yet figured out how to FTP stuff up, so
after they use Front Page to add/edit text, they email me the file and I
put it up on the site. Bassackwards, but it works for the moment!

So, to summarize, the product may not work as well as hand-coding for
design, but it is possible to use it quite successfully for maintenance and
updates. [Note: these pages have no JavaScript, and I've heard that
importing pages with JavaScript can cause FP to delete the JavaScript, so
without more info on that I wouldn't try using FP to edit a page with
rollovers at this point in time.]
