At risk of just wasting bandwidth, I must say that I think the FP supporters
miss the point.
Analogies are necessary. In plain speak I would say that especially FP is a
very real attempt to DEFINE what the internet is. Use it and you then believe
what is possible is what you can do with FP. When I first used Unix I was
blown away. Yes, I said, yes.. here it is. I am expected to know, to learn and
do. There is no trash can working as a bookshelf. It is the real world where if
you touch a piece you move it.
If I have a car and I hire a chauffeur who is driving? If I tell him to turn left, am
I
driving? If I tell my chauffeur to speed up and he tells me his is going as fast
as possible, do I believe it?
I will bet that most FP masters never thought of server-side-includes until FP
used them. It did not exist until FP said it did.
I would bet that FP can be a great tool in the hands of one who has mastered
it. But what has he mastered? Why not master the website? Master that and
then choose your tool. Don't master the tool and miss the trade.
