I have a client who signed up with CardServices back in 11/97. Since then
they have been satisifed and I have not heard anything about "forcing" them
to use a particular credit card verification gateway.

If the guy is creative, he will be hard pressed to be satisified with any of
the storefront in an hour types of packages. The ones I've seen have been
relatively generic and have not offered a much, if any, room for html custom
editing. Viaweb was the one I was most impressed with. They seemed to have a
very clean interface and comprehensive reporting.

http://www.authorizenet.com/
particularly this product:

I have been using them for around 9 months and have not had any problems.
Tech support, when needed, is very responsive. If you go this route you will
have to do a little scripting to collect data prior to sending the dollar
amount to the AuthorizeNet credit card verification gateway.
They're not in the business of building storefronts, just processing
transactions and providing reports on transaction data, so I'm not sure this
is the all-in-one solution you are looking for, but....well...they may be
hard-pressed to find some pre-fab storefront that will satisfy their
creative urges AND give them transaction processing. IMO, they should cough
up a few dollars for a little scripting and do it right...that way the
storefront and the transaction system will mesh in appearance with the
existing site (that you're going to have done tomorrow!)
