Yep... McKinley Group started one of the original search engines back in, I
believe, early '95. This evolved into Magellan, which was bought out for
$11 million in stock by Excite (formerly Architext) in the summer of '96.
However, mckinley.com continued in existence as a small-scale "web
review" site under the aegis of Excite, or at least it did until yesterday or
thereabouts.
Have no idea what became of it as of then, though as far as I know it
hasn't been a going concern to speak of for quite awhile.
