I asked this question of my tech support guys, and they fell out of
their chairs laughing.

NT is very pathetic with DNS.  We tried a few of the free MS-supplied
options, which didn't work for squat, and a couple of rumoured freeware
things that never even got off the ground.

In the ended we paid the bucks for MetaIP from Checkpoint (who also make
our firewall).  Allowed us to do our own DNS for main boxes, as well as
to manage dymanic IP allocation for dial-up lines, nameservices for
internal desktop services, remote admin and some other nice things.  May
be overkill for your needs, but they offer an eval version at
