Sorry for the tardiness of my reply. I've been busy lately and am now
wading through over 500 messages in here.
I don't know of any free DNS packages but if you just want to play, check
out MetaInfo's DNS package (http://www.metainfo.com). They have a free 30
day trial of the product. I'm using it on one of our servers, and it's a
breeze to set up. After the nightmares I've heard about Microsoft's DNS
package I wouldn't touch it.

I've got WINS tied to DNS on our servers, but from what I understand you
can run it without DNS.
