NT and Standards are two terms that don't really go well together.

There is a Wins Server in NT Server 4.0 . But, from what I have
seen, you only really need to use wins if you wish to do MS
Networking in a WAN (ie. people on in internet connection to
another network). However this is NOT a really secure way of doing things.
Wins may also help you if you have multiple segments (192.168.1
and 192.168.2).

you also might wanna get a Windows NT TCP/IP book to help you
understand things better.
