A lot more, as they have tremendous opportunity to profit from their
position. Do you think Monica would have had that affair with a mailman?
No. She wanted to have it with a man of power. He used his position to
seduce her, and what did he say, hundreds of other women???
And what about Whitewater? Do you think he would have gotten such
favorable treatment from the others if he had not been the governor of
Arkansas? No. They wanted someone in power to be on their side.
Yes, we have to scrutinize their actions. Or we will find, as they
have found over and over, that the politicians private investments just
happen to be in the very industries helped by their public actions.
As numerous editorials have pointed out, he lied under oath, and
lied to us. If you lied to your boss about screwing someone in your
office while at work, wouldn't you be fired? Even the more so, if she was
half your age! We are his boss. He lied to us, and destroyed most of the
trust of his staff. Are we to condone such gross behavior? I believe we
must set a higher standard for the behavior of those who would be the
exemplars of our society. He has got to go!
> I just try to think back when other presidents had trouble... when Reagan
> lied and said he had no knowledge of the Iran Contra proceedings...
Iran Contra was about private people trying to keep communists from
taking over Latin America. It was about a congress too short sighted for
our national good.
The botanical research of my Lithuanian Grand Uncle was published in
the National Geographic, his grave now lies in the cold Siberian Tundra. I
know what communism does to men's souls. And the nations that it conquers.
