Takes two to tango. Hundreds of women? Come on, they were both
willing partners. And don't tell me he couldn't say no. I've had women
like that start to throw themselves at me, and side stepped it all right
in the start. Only an idiot wouldn't!

Whitewater is not over. This was a side issue. So why was it
McDougall and others ended up in jail? Didn't it have something to do with
Whitewater?

So maybe I am not completely up on Iran Contra. As for the Sandanistas
not being communist, that I don't believe! They used communist tactics of
disrupting an existing infrastructure, spoke the rhetoric as far as I
saw, and fought a guerilla type war. I believe they, like many other
insurrection movements, were financed and trained by the soviets. The
soviets always try to get their support in to build loyalty to their
cause. And when they win, the people lose. (Of course, it does not take
the soviets to make the people lose. Old hatreds, etc. work just fine to
create another "them" to disenfranchise and exploit.)

It certainly revitalized the economy! Floated a lot of boats off
Carter's mud flats! Certainly got my boat back into the waters, I'd not
had steady work for close to two years under Carter.

As for Star Wars, the soviets were paranoid about it, willing to sign
almost any treaty _IF_ we stopped Star Wars. Whether ruse or real is
irrelevant; most of England's tanks in the start of WW-II were inflatable
rubber, and worked well enough to stave off Hitler's plan's of invasion.
Star Wars worked well enough to be one of the final nails in the soviet
coffin. "The greatest general wins the war without fighting a single
battle" -- Sun Tsu. And with that, Reagan ended the soviet union without
fighting a single battle directly against them.

(One may, however, consider Desert Storm. We went up against soviet
master plans, and tore them to shreds using our technology. Unfortunately
some idiot stopped before we finished the job. We didn't need to take
Baghdad, but we should have taken out all the elite guard. That was Bush
and his lack of "the vision thing". It was, however, one reason Yazov and
co. fell off their log. All in all, a nice fake war from both sides,
ending the soviet union for now. Maybe forever. Funny how close Clancy
came with "Red Storm Rising"! The soviets faked that one to get the
Western interests to explore their oil reserves, and to try to pull in
their rebellious states with fears of a neo-Hitler; and we faked it to
show the soviets they hadn't a chance. It was a setup on both sides, a
proxy war to show off weapons without fighting a real nuclear war between
the main proponents. Probably one of the reasons Yazov and co drank
themselves into a stupor. Definitely one of the reasons the soviet
military ignored their orders to take out Yeltsin and co. We showed the
soviets that their entire military strategy, their high reliance on
central command and control, as well as tanks, was worthless against our
jamming and airborne anti-tank measures. The question of the Fulda Gap
was finally resolved, and without blowing up half of Europe.)
