We are still designing so that is "works" for 640x480 but that it will stretch to
accommodate larger widths.  It is a pain though..

Odds are, someone with a DVD player has at least 800x600 but if the site is also
meant to attract people who might want to get into DVD, then perhaps a lower
resolution is best.  I happen to like 1024xwhatever, but I know that for most
systems I set up, users don't like the smaller letters on a 15" and rather have it
at 800 or less.

They should be able to click the "apply" button instead of the "ok" button and have
it adjust on the fly.  This may be a feature of the video cards.  Most of the
systems I work on have some flavour of ATI and it works ok.
