Yes, well, you would. The page depends on the use of layers to create its
effect and won't work in pre-4.x browsers. Or at least not without an
error-trapping routine of some sort, which the page seems to lack.
To be frank, I was thoroughly underwhelmed by it. The basic effect can
be achieved by anyone who has DreamWeaver, if you have the patience (I
sure wouldn't) to set the paths and destinations for the little 'box' GIFs
such that they spell out (oh so sloowwwly) a word. And let's face it,
when you've seen the effect once you're not going to be in a big hurry to
go back and see it again, considering how much time is spent achieving so
relatively little.
I mean really -- once the DHTML stuff was finished, I had no idea what
the page was actually about, and no inducement to click on any links
(which were annoyingly hard to find.) As a gimmick the page works OK, as
a functional Web site it doesn't.
