Cisco's looking for a web interface designer who can work well with IS,
artists and business types. You'll define and drive the development of
standards, processes, and templates to ensure that the Cisco Connection
Online (CCO, our external web site at http://www.cisco.com) interface is:
* clear and intuitive
* functionally effective
* optimally efficient
* seamlessly and consistently integrated across the site
* responsive to the technical sophistication of users� browsers
* enjoyable to use
You'll also be:
* Defining and communicating interface design standards by working with our
web content infrastructure group (Interactive Marketing Tools) to
understand business requirements for interface designs, and working with
Corporate Identity to drive the development of templates to meet those
requirements in ways that ensure that the CCO interface accurately
represents Cisco's corporate identity. This work includes the definition of
extranet interface templates.
* Working with IS to define and drive the development of systems and
processes that can automatically ensure that CCO interfaces adhere to
published guidelines and policies.
* Working with IS to define and drive the development of new technologies,
systems, and methods to ensure the highest possible modularity and
scalability of the CCO design interface, including cascading style sheets,
separating HTML from applications scripts, and separating design templates
from content
* Working with IS Marketing and IMT Development personnel to integrate and
optimize dynamic content and personalization features within CCO design
interfaces.
* Working with the Usability Project Manager to define and prototype design
interfaces to be used for usability testing, and to understand and act upon
the results of that testing.
* Working with Corporate Identity to consistently "push the envelope" of
CCO interface design by prototyping new concepts and piloting new design
methodologies.
Requirements
--------------------
BA/BS or equivalent, plus 2-5 years of experience managing design-related
projects for the World Wide Web, including the design of application
interfaces. Thorough understanding and experience with current Web
technologies and Web design practices and methodologies. Ability to design
modular and scalable interfaces a must. Ability to develop and evolve
long-term business strategies while consistently driving tactical Corporate
Identity and IS projects a must. Ability to successfully communicate needs
and concepts to graphic designers, technical IS personnel and business
representatives a must.
Requires effective decision-making skills and the ability to work with
cross-functional teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills
desired. This is a contract position based in Santa Clara.
