Yes, using the real audio plugin commands you can get a file to autoplay on
loading or _not_.
I do agree with Mary here that gratutious sounds played automatically are a
real pain. There may be of course other times when you want this feature.
Say... guided tours, online games etc but playing some music on the opening
of an "ordinary" web page is usually not welcome.
The question of using plugins or players is a completely different one
however. .wav files may be automatically catered for by Netscape but they
are huge, you have to wait for them etc. Streaming media was invented to
get around this. I also think that Netscape installs the Real stuff for you
now when you install the browser. I think I saw it flash up when I
installed NS4.5
You may also want to look at the Microsoft Media player/netshow offering.
It's now very similiar to Real Audio and becoming more widespread. Of
course in typical MS style they give away a lot of tools etc to get you in.
I see they've even covered their bets and bought a chunk of Real.
