Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you.  If I undestand the problem
correctly it's a pop3 thang.  user.lock is a file that is created
temporarily to control symultaneous access to the mailbox. If the lock
file isn't cleaned out (removed) properly due to incorrect termination of
the connection then it thinks the session is still going and doesn't let
any new sessions start.  What is causing the file to be left behind is
anybody's guess.  You can however delete the file (if you have the right
permissions) and clear the server for access in doing so. (You might want
to just give it a different extension)

YMMV, but it's happened to me before and that's the suggested method for
clearing it.  It could very well be a time out thing that's causing it to
be left behind but I doubt it.
