Well, "chewing" was my word, not one that came from the mouth of the iServer
support guy. Anyway, he did take around 24 hours to get back to me again,
and that may have been because I sent another email directly to the general
support email address saying "please help asap".

I agree. I am not flattered with the solution that I have been given by
iServer at this point. I gave the tech support guy the password for the
account so he could check it from his end. He did, and logged in
successfully through a "raw" connection. He said that the problem is
probably that the POP server counts the emails in the file, then sends data
back to the client software, but in this case, since there are 10,000 emails
in there (no lie!), he thinks that the client software is just timing out
before the count is completed. I tried extending the time-out on my email
software, but have not successfully retrieved the mail yet.

Anyone know how long I should expect the count to take? 5 minutes? Half
hour?

He recommended that I download the file and read the mail locally, but I'm
not sure how to do that. I want to run the email through an email client
that will do filtering for me, not read it from raw text. Any ideas here? My
client is using Win 95 and has access to Outlook, Eudora Pro 3 or Netscape
mail.

I agree. I think the turnaround time on this problem has been too slow. The
10,000 emails are something my client needs to analyze for a report. No, not
for generating a spam email list.

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA,
Jack
