Well, folks -- newspapers look "alike" too -- even when they are in
other languages than English.
I believe that as the web matures there will be different "looks" that
incorporate features like contents pages and indices in books .... I
won't pretend to know what they are.
And yes, there is some of the "me-too" in this -- but a HELLUVA lot of
it is based on common sense. Search engines -- get the text box close to
the top of the screen!
Also -- notice how they are all dropping frames and dropping heavy
images. That should continue as we move to CSS. Also, CSS promise to
resolve the problem of type looking different on wintel and macs - just
spec it in pixels instead of points.
Am attending the ThunderLizard WebDesign98 here in Seattle the end of
