In the past, I have been shown resumes that heuristics shot-gunned to a
boss of mine. DO NOT LET ANY AGENCY send out your resume blind without
discussing the SPECIFIC positions they will be sending your resume out on
FIRST! See http://www.mall-net.com/webcons/ for articles on dealing with
agencies. You need to know EXACTLY where your resume is going. No
ethical agency will refuse to tell you which company and which job
requirement they will send your resume to.
You can find a lot of agencies at http://www.dice.com . While they
are not superb, they do have a lot of job listings. DO NOT post your
resume on the web. I have gotten calls from the Midwest and other places
saying they have a job for me to start on at xyz corp, when I have no
interest in going to that state, nor working for that company!
Why the concerns? Double submissions kill jobs! If a company gets two
of your resumes from two different agencies, they toss both out to avoid
legal hassles as to who gets the fees or commissions.
