They've actually come a long way in the past two years. And there is always
AIP, which started this thread.
If you are interested in Human-Computer Interaction - there is the SIG-CHI
section of ACM (http://www.acm.org/) as well as the Usability Professionals
Association.
"web development" is such a broad reach ...
