I would like to chip in my $0.02 on the HTML editor thread. Two issues,
technique and editor.

There is a classic problem solving flaw in this thread, namely, asking a
question and then supplying a solution.

The original poster stated a problem and then ask if there was an html
editor capable of implementing the solution. The question might have been,
how do I allow individuals - without html coding knowledge - code pages
adhering to a predetermined style.

        Please take a look at:

http://accva.org/generic.html

This page uses a template with three sections. To illustrate a point, the
entire look and feel of the page is maintainable. Click on the "Try It Now"
button on the bottom of the page. (This obviously will not be in the final
version.) The next form will allow the contents as well as the look and
feel to be modified. Make a change, click on "Modify Page" and your are
back to the original page with modifications displayed.

By controlling the number of changes and the basic template, all pages so
created could have the same look and feel. The cosmetic changes could be
eliminated.

This feature was a big selling point to land a site redesign for a major
convention authority (Atlantic City.) There will be two version, each
marketing partner - who wants one - will have a page they can modify as
often as they like. Staff personnel will also have there own modifiable page.

        A variation on the theme it the new home page at;

http://accva.org

The text area on the left will be an activity announcement while the text
area on the bottom is for short term announcement like Miss America news.
Click on the center graphic and select one of the entries. (Leave pass word
and user id blank.) Here again, specific things can be modified or eliminated.

HTML editors fall into two categories, WYSIWYG and non-WYSIWYG. The
comments thus far all seem to have all been directed at WYSIWYG editing. I
use Home Site and love it. I know HTML and have been using it since before
Mosaic. However, I see no advantage to manually inserting every lick of
HTML in tag intensive components like tables and forms. Using the Home Site
wizard I can knock a table out in a tenth of the time.

Isn't the whole idea of technology to become more productive? One
certainly does not have to know how an internal combustion works to drive a
car to post office to pick up those check. BTW, the check come more
frequently if you work efficiently :-)
