Hi All,
I'm (again) wondering how come this patch wasn't accepted upstream. I
was having a "day" with this trying to figure out what was happening
with my configuration. I couldn't get "proper" usernames to login into
cyrus-imapd.
=======[1]=========
DOMAIN_AS_PREFIX=0 yields
Domain = domain1.com
Domain_prefix = dom1
EmailAddress = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
username = dom1001
turns out this is created as
/var/spool/imap/user/dom10001
========[1]==================
========[2]==================
DOMAIN_AS_PREFIX=1
unixhierarchysep:yes
Mail Spool becomes:
/var/spool/imap/user/u/user1^domain1^com
Username = user1.domain1.com
email address = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
===========[2]===================
Seems Counter-intuitive to login into the mail-server.
With [1], usernames != email address, with [2], usernames missing the
"@" character.
Either way, the manner in which the directory is made in cyrus is
totally (to me) unacceptable. It's gonna be a huge headache to figure
out who's who and where's where.
with this patch

tried it out yet)

Things start to look saner.
Domain = Domain1
Email = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Username = [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Mail Spool = /var/spool/imap/domain/domain1.com/user/user1
Can I just inquire why this wasn't accepted upstream? (I was actually
thinking of hacking the source to accept this change and send it in as a
patch)
