Discussions like this always end up in long irrelevant threads, but
here we go anyway :)

Why spend time on non-core issues? Web2py vs other frameworks
comparisons (which is the thing that makes most sense) are available
today.

> In other words, the arguments in support of we2bpy are quite shallow.

The added value of web2py becomes clear only after trying out web2py.
No amount of blogging/arguing can replace hands-on experience.

If it hadn't been for a "check out web2py" message on some forum, I'd
probably still be trying to find my way around one of the alternative
webapp frameworks. This particular megaframework consisted of a
collection of frameworks, all of which were in a state of continuous
non-backwards compatible changes, causing me to spend most of my time
worrying if my code would still work after upgrading... (and
configuring and mastering all those different frameworks and
technologies isn't exactly a matter of a few hours too).

I don't suggest checking out web2py because I like to spam or because
I consider mdipierro to be my personal guru. I promote it because I've
had a very positive experience with it and would like others to enjoy
that same experience.

If people feel offended by friendly suggestions surely that's more
their problem than mine? Why if someone asks recommendations for a web
framework would I have less right to respond than a zope, turbogears
or django person? No one wants to save the world here - just bring
some happiness. Amen.

(BTW, before finding web2py I also enjoyed "raw cherrypy").
