thanks a lot.Not an intended feature, I would like to correct. Fact is that once you clicked "accept", the old site provided wget'able links.
I don't mind either way, really. I prefer my new script I have now, less to click (nothing!). The license accepting is scripted away.
I only consider it a problem for those that religiously follow the releases and need to go through the clicking business every time over again. I already said "yes, I accept" the first time I downloaded, why do I need to click again and again and be forced into a GUI download, now that I just want to upgrade? I have upgraded pretty much to every release since build ~46; I have said yes to that license at least 30 times now!
But that is not something that we can change today. To upgrade today we need to download the full distribution as if we would do a new install. That sucks. And that is being worked on. The new packaging and new install/upgrade way will address this (or so I hope!).
I very much appreciate that you are following up on it, though! Thanks - mo On 12 Mar 2008, at 11:28 pm, Derek Cicero wrote:
I talked to the PM from the Sun Download Center today and they understand that the lack of wget access is a major issue. It appears as though it was never actually a feature in the old system, which is why it was not part of the new system. They have added it to their list of fixes as a high priority, but since they are still in the process of migrating all the products from the oldsystem to the new one, they do not have an ETA as to when it might get intgerated.I will follow up with them periodically and provide updates to the list. Please direct any follow up questions to website-discuss.
