I have a few updates: UPDATE 1 ----------- I saw a presentation on the openoffice wiki this week, and it has a feature that I believe we need to add to the conditional requirements.
It's called Collections in Mediawiki, and it provides the capability to define a customized list of wiki links which you can can save for later use or export as a PDF. Here's how you do it: 1) Go to http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation 2) Click on Add a Page under My Collection in the left-hand nav bar. The current page you are viewing gets added to the collection. Go to a couple pages and add them. 3) Click Show collection under My Collection. You can save a collection, download the collection as a PDF, and even choose to order your customized collection as a printed book. Very slick, and a very important step to let users create their own customized information sets. UPDATE 2 ----------- I really think C13 needs to be moved to the Essential requirements. Using a wiki that already has broad community support should increase the chance of having (or providing in the future) a lot of requirements we need, simply because there are more community members available to implement them. UPDATE 3 ----------- Shouldn't one of the requirements simply be what wiki the OpenSolaris community wants and is comfortable with? I realize there are always technical reasons to have one wiki over the other, but what wikis do the OpenSolaris community members already use or are most familiar with? Familiarity goes a long ways toward collaboration. Have we done a simple poll for this? Here's trend data I just found from google: http://www.google.com/trends?q=TWiki%2C+MoinMoin%2C+PmWiki%2C+MediaWiki%2C+DokuWiki&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=3 UPDATE 4 ----------- And, finally, since MediaWiki is one of the most popular wikis, I'd like to see on the requirements page why it's not being considered. BTW, I'm not partial to MediaWiki, but it just seems like it has a lot going for it and sites like openoffice.org are proving it.
