I got curious, so I did some searching on the Adobe website. The "linking" page has some interesting rules about using the "Adobe PDF file icon": https://www.adobe.com/misc/linking.html Notably: --- The Adobe PDF file icon is provided solely as an indicator of an active link to a Portable Document Format file with a .pdf filename extension created using an Adobe® Acrobat® product. By downloading or using the icon, you agree to adhere to the following guidelines: You will only display the Adobe PDF file icon on your website and not in any other manner. ... Your use may not be obscene or pornographic, and may not be disparaging, defamatory, or libelous to Adobe, any of its products, or any other person or entity. ... Adobe reserves the right in its sole discretion to terminate or modify your permission to display the Adobe PDF file icon at any time. If your use meets the above criteria, no further written permission is required, and you may download the image for use in accordance with the guidelines above. --- I'm not sure that our website meets those guidelines (e.g. I'm pretty sure our PDFs aren't created using Adobe Acrobat), but perhaps our icons are different enough from Adobe's mark, don't include the Adobe or Acrobat name, etc..., such that we are not constrained by their rules?
