We intend to remove 5.0. However, with the jungle of dependants out there, not at the same time we add 5.1, but after say two months. But both 5.0 and 5.1 need to be able to exist independently, if for nothing else so give dependants a chance to respin without having everybody coordinate and come together the exact same second. :) Thus effectively two separate package bundles. And not to forget: end users may well want OS 2008.11 but not 5.1 quite yet, so 5.0 need to run nicely in parallel. <sidetrack:moderate> Coordinating a large and complex web of interdependencies can be, hm, "interesting" as the Chinese might put it.
