Thanks mwall for the insight & help!  I was struggling to get my Acurite 
01536 running on an Odroid C1 (Ubuntu).  I was having a problem similar to 
Steve's, however for me weewx was able to consistently find the station on 
the usb port but also consistently gave a Broken Pipe error.  The solution 
was a powered usb hub. Thanks again!
