I DID do both at the same time. Tried various sequences, too. 30 second up-arrow until beep/reset, battery pull (with USB unplugged), left the batteries out for 6 hours one day, etc.
I decided to connect to Cumulus running on a laptop, which is how I used to get info to my weather station. Cumulus immediately connected to the weather station and synced just fine! Now I am going to look around to find a different program to run on my Pi that might actually still work with my WS-2080.
