Not sure what you mean by, "Reading the weewx database I noticed that there are values of "windgust" repeated." Do you mean you're seeing the same value more than once? Why would that be a problem?
To answer your other question, normally, for the Davis hardware, windGust is reported by the hardware. But, for whatever reasons, you've chosen to use software record generation.
