If you are using a Debian based system you are much better off installing the deb file, people have upgraded from Bookworm to Trixie and their virtual environments were wiped.
As far as I know there aren't any experimental builds and the most recent release 5.2.0 seems to have incorporated all pending features at that time. You could pull from a branch other then the main one I suppose, but that requires a lot more time and effort than installing a package. As far as I know the github wiki is up to date on where things are at. https://github.com/weewx/weewx/wiki On Thu, 8 Jan 2026 at 12:08, Dale <[email protected]> wrote: > I am venturing forth into getting a new Pi5 with Trixie set up to > install a fresh, experimental, version of WeeWx5. > > Some time ago it was recommended that the virtual environment should be > used. > > I found a note from Tom from Oct 31, 2022 on some steps to make sure all > the necessary parts were in place before starting this install. > > > This was the only set of instructions I found that was step by step, > which I definitely need to follow carefully. > > Question: > > Is that still the best way to get the virtual environment installed or > are there updates which make it easier or must be done to make current > releases work? > > Dale > > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "weewx-user" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to [email protected]. > To view this discussion visit > https://groups.google.com/d/msgid/weewx-user/a3f9f350-f600-4275-8706-6f3a32d6b274%40gmail.com > . > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "weewx-user" group.
