That's the official stance.  Certain churches (the one I sing at in
Falls Church and, I imagine, the Dupont Circle congregation) dissent
from this stance and call for an even more welcoming environment.  Like
being pro-gay marriage and allowing for openly gay ministers.  These
congregations are part of the Covenant Network (
http://www.covenantnetwork.org/home.htm )

There's probably a similar group of congregations that lean the other
way on these issues, but I don't know what their name is.
