Most Natives call themselves American Indian, or more commonly, 
refer to themselves by their own tribes' names.  Redskin is not the 
same as black because redskin was used as a derogatory term (think 
more along the lines of "yellow" Asians), so it is definitely not 
appropriate, and quite insulting.  As a general rule, it's best to 
go with however ethnic groups identify themselves.
