I can confirm that it does *not* yet work for me (but I guess the
changes aren't in yet?)
I've successfully built from the HG version on debian etch now (and
that's why I didn't verify what your changes where, I had an old svn
checkout on one machine and a HG checkout on my laptop which I can't
compare now).
