Details:
This was recently removed by ESR, but should preferably be re-implemented.
In the earlier debate about this issue, it was established, more or less,
that "if ever there was a justification for a user interface option, this is
one".
- People perceive the issue differently, which any short debate (including
the one on irc after the removal of this option) will demonstrate. Likewise
the longer debates earlier on. One person intuitively understands it one way
around, another understands it better the other way around. IMO they have
legitimate reasons for this.
- Also, the situation, "out there", is different depending on whether you're
situated north of the tropic of cancer, or south of the tropic of capricorn.
(If you're between the tropics, it's yet a different matter.)
- Most importantly, *this is a question of user perception and user
interface,* not a question of where the _scenario_ is situated. It is the
*player* who needs to intuitively understand what ToD it is, to be able to
plan ahead and anticipate ToD changes in their game. As stated, and
established in the earlier debate on this issue, it is a good thing if the
game facilitates this intuitive understanding, rather than hindering it for
one of the two groups of users.

Finally, if this caused an adhesion between the editor code and the game
code, well... I'm quite sure the editor doesn't even need to be ToD-aware.
_So, please re-implement this UI option for the actual game._
Let me repeat, even if the ToD images already can be re-defined by WML, that
is not the essential issue here, but the user perception. It needs to be
intuitive for the player, thus, it needs to be _selectable by the player._
This is what the option provides.
Finally, a special request to ESR - please do not immediately mark this as
"Wont Fix". It is my understanding that there are a number of developers who
would support this option, so it would be prudent not to close the issue
without allowing for the other devs to voice their opinions.
