Follow-up Comment #5:
"use map settings" means that the WML events in the map are enabled, and that
the game can't be considered a normal game.
in that case, interested players should join and ask what sort of game this
is. This is much better than actually trying to guess what is going on, esp
with things that could be changed by WML mid-game.
