Follow-up Comment #3, bug #11859 (project wesnoth):
I say you'll still have a message in stderr because it's like seetting screen
resolution, it's kind of important and either
setlocale() failed for xx_XX
or locale set xx_XX
will allways get printed, regardless if you're using proper windows strings
or not.
Only gain I can think of is being able to write in the chosen locale/language
with full use of language specific letters. Otherwise, there's no impact of
setlocale() on wesnoth altogether.
