Follow-up Comment #3, bug #15882 (project wesnoth):
U can not reproduce with 1.8 on ATI radeon 4350, Xorg driver 6.13.0. It works
fine even with --bpp 8. Tell us more about your hardware and drivers where you
can see it.
This seems to be a dupe of bug 15590.
