Hi everyone! The people regulary joining irc should have noticed in the topic that we are currently working on realizing something like "Wesconf" a meeting of Wesnoth devs. We currently think about having it happen in the middle of Europe, to be more precise in Germany in a town named Dortmund. I did ask for support from the department I study at. Especially I did ask for getting rooms with an internet connection. In the wiki there is also a page dedicated to this planned conf. Though it is not sure in how far it will be possible to realize it. It is mainly meant to meet, talk, discuss, fix bugs and test (you know what I mean with "test", don't you?). The conf is meant to be open for everyone and if I can get all the permissions needed I will announce it on the website, too. So for the moment one important thing there are some important things left to ask: 1) How many people will join in the conf? My guess was that we will be at least 10 to 20 people. It would be nice to get a list of people who would consider joining the conf in the wiki. 2) What should the exact date be? Currently we plan for mid/late august. Though we did not set a date yet. It is meant to last three or four days. Those people really interested in comming should (maybe on this list) post their preferred dates. It will probably not be possible to find a date that suits everyone, but it should at least suit many as many as possible.
So please have a look at the wiki page for Wesconf ( http://wesnoth.org/wiki/Wesconf ). I did already ask for permission of this at the department of computerscience at the University of Dortmund. It is not sure that we will get this permission but I am rather confident that we will. Once we have it we will ahve to look for a place to sleep. One option would be the so called "Jugendgästehaus Dortmund" (a youth hostel). For people younger than 27 it would be 22€ a night in a room with *don't know how many beds* (probably something like 6 beds or so) with breakfast. People above 27 would pay 23€. Have a look at their pricelist ( http://www.jugendherberge.de/hvb/include/hvz/preise_de.jsp?IDJH=641&IDA=6 ) for some more details. I am sorry, but this list is only available in german. This won't be a high class hotel, just a (rather) cheap place to stay. I don't think it will be possible to get the universitys gym for sleeping but I will ask them once we have the okay for the conf. So to summon things up: * it looks like an international "free for all" Wesconf will be possible this summer * currently waiting for final permission * b&b in Dortmund will be about 25€ a night (have to add prices for a trainticket to the campus) * looking for exact dates for the conf: possible timeframe: august 6th to september 14th, to take place in the middle of the week (university is looked up at the weekends) Any comments and suggestions are highly welcome.
