#1 Holy/Arcane Damage.

Cool.

#2 Mage renaming.

L1                  "apprentice/novice mage"
L2                  "mage"            "white mage"
L3 "silver mage" "master mage" "mage of light"
L4                  "arch mage"
L5                  "elder mage"(defador)

I think we should move forward on this, although maybe a better word than master (Even though it is correct for period, its sounds grammatically funny).

Just for reference, I'm not personally pushing for this; I was merely saying "if others felt that the names needed to be changed, these are what I'd change them to". I certainly wouldn't mind them changing, but I don't feel too strongly about it.

Some possible alternatives: "Magister," "Wizard," "Sage," "Expert Mage," "Learned Mage," "Conjurer". I personally especially like "Magister" - it's connotation of teacher is especially appropriate (since what we currently call Arch Mages often do end up as teachers of some sort), and

At the same time we might think about also changing the white mage line as well, since we might as well do it for consistency's sake. Eleazar and I have discussed this, and I'd personally like to see a more religiously themed name for them (Something like Clergyman/ priest and rector) because they are religiously inspired units, While eleazar would like to use cleric and keep mage of light. I'm not so partial either way, but it is something to discuss.

Cleric -> Hierophant, anyone? :D

For those who are wondering, this was made famous through the tarot card (orig. Pope) which referenced the following: "Hierophant, n" The role of the hierophant in religion is to bring the congregants into the presence of that which is deemed holy. The word comes from Ancient Greece, where it was constructed from the combination of ta hiera, "the holy," and phainein, "to show." In Attica it was the title of the chief priest at the Eleusinian Mysteries."

#3 Rebel mages.

Mythological and jb have been consistent and persuasive argument about changing the use of mages in both the elves and the loyalists. We've agreed to it, but under several balancing stipulations. One is that the movetype must be different from the elves, and the second is that it must have a different alignment. So we'd like to keep it a human, mage serving the elves, but a different starting unit than the regular mage. Given that we've wanted to remove the white mage from the rebels inventory, I think this is a good opportunity to do so. We'd like to create a "woodland mage" to replace the mage in the elves. What we need is art. I was thinking that we'd have two different level 1 mage art, but they can later share the lvl 2 and 3 and 4 art. The main change will be the woodland mage would have 5-4 magic fire attack, rather than the 7-3. This will avoid balancing problems all together.

One term that has precent in games is "hedge wizard"; another interesting twist we could go for is to call them "Errant Mages," like Errant Knights - under the premise that they were sent to the woods not unlike a student traveling abroad to study.

I'm not opposed to, nor in favor of this change; however, I think the easiest way to provide art for this would be _retroactively. E.g, if you want to do this, start by just using the existing L1 mage art; I can then update that art with something better. As much variance as our units have, as obvious the opposing faction is during a game, and as similar as they'd be to the existing mages, it wouldn't hurt if they looked the same for one release in the dev version.
