This would be a bad idea most of the time. My thought was that I know of one MP campaign that already allow this sort of thing (in a good and interesting way), so if the system was already being made, why not include the possibility? On the other hand, it can already be done in WML and perhaps it is best to keep it that way. P > > Shared victory is the thorny issue from a multi-player point of view, I > > think. That is interesting, I'll think more about it. > > If 4 players join a FFA game but two of them intend to > > ally immediately with shared victory then the other two players are > > effectively forced to ally as well, rendering the game a regular 2v2. > > interesting point, here is what I'm currently thinking : if players > declare a FFA, no alliance, before game they could "force" it via map > options or agree to that. I had imagined that it would only be used in FFA (that is, a game where players do not start on any team) games, as "team games" already have clearly defined teams. Is this intended to replace the normal team structure for "stock" 2v2 maps, for example? I'm not sure how that would work, as changing the teams completely changes the balance of the maps. If it is not intended to be used to allow alliances and shared victory in a multiplayer free-for-all game, then when can it be used?
